Back when Delves was released, there are tons of mobs everywhere.
This means higher Depth is a more disaster, however we gets more Inert Geode to finish Delves asap. Because nothing is really rewarding to farm except:
- Mastery Points
- Shadow Caches for the dragon that cannot be unlocked by other means
- Vacuum module
- Shadow Shards for portal/Gardening Habitat
- Some dragon fragments bcs of massive of specific mobs (bees)
By getting Inert Geode asap, what we really need to worry is the weekly Lunar Souls claim, and after maxing Vacuum for double Crystals amount.
However, by the time Understacks and bunch of tomes are introduced, I had been forced to farm Inert again. Because of Mastery Points and finally can empty my wallet.
This time, the Challenge Delves is very empty for over a month? 1 room, 1 mob. Rarely seen single objective consists of many mobs. Challenge is the only one worth to do weekly Lunar run:
- Public no much wants to join, even if u got 1, u could starts at Depth 128 as near 36k PR Draco, have only 3 Trovians joining, where 1 of them is a 27-ish Trovians asking questions that distract you; while the another one is using non-meta DPS class such as Dino Tamer. However, I was wrong (read below).
- Private don't have minimum Depth, can use class swapping trick, faster queue in. However, most of the time the team can be mixed, might have lower overall quality compared to Chall Delves. Cannot farm C4 if too low. (Maybe has better mob spawn rate after Public experience, see below)
- Challenge will always at least 110, so finding Trovians who know how to play is easier. However, most of the time it is just... empty, and doesn't get rid of leechers/low PR refused to be runner.
So what is the current Inert Geode source?
1) Looting collected Memento (luck based).
2) Pressurized Chest (White one, attack it) at the end. (Doesn't seem to be boosted by Banner of Geodeseeker?)
3) Monday bonus
4) Lucky massacre Depth generation
However, the 2nd time I back to Public again, I have 2 Depths in a row asking me kill hundreds of mobs. Sadly I don't taken out Geodeseeker banner from my other class... The most weird part is "Uber 8" in Depth 127, where it asked me kill 190+ mobs.
I was very lucky to the RNG so the boss are super easy to kill compared to previous run. (Similar team class strength)
So someone might question, why you so concern about Inert Drop? Because you have nothing else to spend:
1) Like I said, I want finish the tomes asap so next time I just worry on Perma torch drops and U10 spam farming.
2) Not everyone as free as me to suffer queuing in Public Delves, or have an empty Challenge Delves.
3) Vacuum module is rewarding, and lack of Inert drop seems to be fair to justify its value. Because it is a "must" have not just for me only.
4) Understacks is "just the beginning".

Delves are weird.
