Rng[read randomness or random number generation]
in this game is not problem because of one generation lets see example
You have 80% chance to get gem 15%dust 95% chance for it to be useless just because of base tier 4.9% chance to get something that you maybe can use until next upgrade and 0.1% chance for what you actually want as your base until next uber
Now the gem can roll 1-3 stars 1-3 stats from stat pool that is following
PD
MD
HP R
HP%
HP MAX
Crit dmg
Crit chance
lets say you are any character ingame = you do not want hp regen
lets say you are any physical damage dealing class = you do not want MD
so there is 30% chance to roll what you can not or do not use at all and 60% chance to get stat you do not really wish for but can at least use
but this chance is on every gem 3 times
meaning you do not get anything of use almost 90% of time and do not get what you want 99.999% of time
now you may say well it is not so bad chance to have 90% of rolls from 0.1% gems you drop bad
well just wait for more rng then
lets say you want to upgrade something with no additional items=you crack in average 100% of gems in 10 upgrades
so clearly this is not way to go because you need re-geminator
so you gotta use lucky clover or better
here you will hit wall where you spend 20k+dust for one bigger upgrade and many additional materials
after spending all this RANDOM bonus will go to stat you do not want to upgrade=start over
You can also waste resources just because you do not know what second or third stat is gonna be at all because it was not pre-rolled.
AND this is not even half of the RNG problem!
Because gems that truly matter are behind TIME WALL meaning you can get them only once each week [ because I win all contests it is 5gem boxes+3fromshadow tower]
8 gem boxes that may not even be stellar,they may not even be gems,and they will almost 100% be something I do not want to upgrade any futher because It would be waste of resources
I m also in top % of players so our average john will get just 1!!! gem box
where may not even be actual gem
and we expect him to go up in ubbers and get better so he can win more contests
This creates cancerouss game for beginners and frustrating for end-game players.
now there is another RNG!!!! GEM COLOR so you had 1 gem box this week got stellar air gem? GZ next week you got 1 gem box and again stellar? OMG lucker! but... it was air again well now you gotta destroy one and you still have no fire and water gem....
If you remove 50% of RNG in gem gearing process there is still plenty to make everyone angry
so can we reduce this mad rng by some % please?
I m one of people that believe there is never too late for change, maybe reduce those negative reviews on steam and get some new faces would not be bad idea to do promptly.
I support rng to some degree but after opening Thousands of boxes that give me wrong dmg type+hp regen It is too much even for hardcore rpg player who grinded months in diablo 1-2-3 path of exile and other games of this RNG genre.
and all this just to get to next uber,this is not even talking about final end-game with stellar gems... just the progress to get there.
After open beta we had 100% chance to get same gear for same effort oh yes i was there and it was great[if we ignore server issues and downtimes that are common for new game]
now it is just purely luck-based,no dedication,no skill matter
even money do not do enought to enjoy current system .They help?sure. But It is not win situation for anyone .
I do not know if these 10000layers of randomness give thousands of $ to trion worlds in shop gem-boxes or gem upgrading materialsif they do then enjoy I guess...
but how can it be worth all the people who quit or never properly beginn to play?How is it worth the reputation on steam that goes from God-tier to Trash-tier
Do not get me wrong,rng gem boxes are not the only issue. But It is definitely one of major issues because whole expansion is based on it.
Even with 0% rng with boxes you can still go enjoy gambling with Troves of Wonder , Dragon boxes,Loot drop
RNG is not something that trove ever needed more of to be better, if anything It always needed less of it and more of real challenge [speed run maps for example]
